DOCUMENTATION
A working record of the Unnatural Fauna Club archive.
Every specimen entering the archive receives a permanent FIG. number, title, classification, and Field Archive assignment. This record exists to keep track of them as the collection expands.
THE CATALOGUING SYSTEM
FIG. NUMBERS
Each design receives a permanent sequential FIG. number when catalogued. Numbers continue across the entire collection regardless of which Field Archive a specimen belongs to.
Once assigned, a FIG. number is never reused or changed.
FIELD ARCHIVES
Specimens are grouped into Field Archives according to habitat, subject, or area of observation.
Archives remain open. New specimens may be added to an existing archive as further evidence becomes available.
CLASSIFICATIONS
Each specimen is accompanied by a scientific classification consisting of a real taxonomic name followed, where necessary, by an entirely questionable extension.
Accuracy is maintained wherever convenient.
