PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

During a routine underwater observation, a diver encountered a common octopus at unusually close range.

Rather than retreating, the specimen extended a single arm toward the approaching diver. The diver responded with an open hand, resulting in brief and apparently deliberate contact between the two parties.

The gesture appeared to be reciprocated.

Octopuses are highly intelligent animals capable of complex exploration, object manipulation, learning, and individual behavioral responses. Whether the observed interaction represented curiosity, imitation, social acknowledgment, or an entirely unrelated cephalopod intention could not be determined.

If your order arrives damaged, defective, misprinted, or incorrect, contact us within 30 days of delivery and we’ll work with you on an appropriate replacement, refund, or resolution.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

HOW TO PRESERVE YOUR SPECIMEN

This garment has survived classification, documentation, and questionable natural history. Continued survival now depends on you.

  • Wash cold, inside out with similar colors.
  • Use mild detergent. Avoid bleach and harsh cleaning agents.
  • Wash separately before first wear where possible. Garment-dyed fabrics may release some excess pigment during early washes.
  • Tumble dry low or hang dry. Lower heat helps preserve the fabric, fit, and printed artwork.
  • Avoid fabric softener where possible.
  • Do not iron directly over the artwork. Turn the garment inside out or use a pressing cloth.
  • Do not dry clean.

ARCHIVAL NOTE: High heat remains one of the leading causes of premature specimen deterioration.
